Russia will take part in the Olympiad in Rio de Janeiro in spite of the doping scandal

On Sunday, June 24 a conference of IOC EB took place where a problem of Russian sportsmen’s admittance to the Olympic games in Rio de Janeiro was considered.

IOC didn’t dismiss the whole Russian Federation national team.

Russians will come in a reduced lineup: those who had problems with doping earlier won’t be accepted to the Games. Decisions on participation of Russian sportsmen will be taken by international federations of Olympics sports on the basis of the criteria developed by IOC.

It will be recalled that a problem of Russian sportsmen disqualification from participation in OG-2016 was raised on July, 18, when a Commissioner of World Anti-Doping Association (WADA) Richard McLaren published a report on investigation of doping regulations infringement at winter Olympiad in Sochi.

The WADA report is based on the results of a private investigation that started after an appearance of a film about a mass doping application by Russian athletes on German television. Authors of the film accused also the International Athletic Federations Association in concealing of abuses from the side of Russia.

In the course of the investigation, as it is mentioned in the report, one managed to find a confirmation of repeated cases of sports rules violation with sportsmen’s doping usage. It’s confirmed by audio and video evidence, scientific researches, as well as witnessed accounts.
