EU can put a stop to Turkey’s entry in case of reinstating of capital punishment
Euroland authorities issue an ultimatum to Ankara: either a membership in the EU or coming back to capital punishment. These firm requirements were read out aloud by a European Commission president Jean-Claude Juncker. ‘European Union will immediately stop Turkey’s EU entry talks if Ankara will reinstate capital punishment’, states the politician.
It is to be recalled that Turkey can cross out all chances of UE entry in case of reinstating of capital punishment, as it was earlier stated by the head of European diplomacy Federica Mogherini. However, Ankara in reply, not the least self-conscious, declared that Brussels delays a decision on this issue enough already for more than 50 years. Last Saturday Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated that reinstating of capital punishment is demanded by an ordinary country’s population. If the folk doesn’t want this and the Parliament approves of such a decision, he’ll be obliged just to conform, dramatized the Turkish leader.
The topic of capital punishment reinstating in Turkey was raised after an unsuccessful attempt of a coup d'etat attempt in the country. Its victims were hundreds of civilians, after a coup crackdown thousands of people were arrested.
